SCHOOL NEWS

I am delighted to inform you that we have now raised over £40000 for our playground project, £10000 of which we received from Awards for All, £3500 we received in memory of Paul Brassington and.£500 we received from the church. The rest came from other sources and fund raising. I would like to thank all of you who helped raise this phenomenal amount of money. The work has gone out to tender and we hope that a start will be made in the April holiday.

As many of you know Mrs Young retired at Christmas and we wish her a happy and restful retirement. Mrs Catherine Riley has joined the staff and is teaching year 2. Mrs Brassington is now teaching reception full time. Lisa Korol has returned from her maternity leave and is working 2 mornings a week. We have also had lots of students in school this term as well and they have been supporting children in different classes across the school.

The PTA has started to arrange events for the coming year and I will keep you informed about them in the newsletter. They have worked very hard this year to raise funds for the children in the school and we are very lucky to have such supportive parents. On Saturday 1st March their will be a craft morning in school from 10.30am. Children will be able to make lots of different things for Mother’s Day and Easter, there will be refreshments available for the adults. Please come along if you have any young family members who would enjoy doing these types of activity.

Zoo lab visited school earlier in the term and brought in all sorts of creatures for the children to see and in some cases, handle where appropriate. The work covered in each class was done from a different perspective and related to several areas of the curriculum.

I would like to finish this newsletter by saying thankyou to everyone for making myself and the children and families who came to Education Sunday so welcome.
